Christmas shopping away from the crowds
Escape from the crowds, head for the hills and enjoy Christmas shopping in Alston.
This weekend on Saturday 4th December, find unique gifts at our monthly makers’ market (11am – 3pm) in the Alston Town Hall, and then browse our speciality shops for more unusual presents for Christmas.
Why not make a weekend of it? Stay in one of our cottages and the choice is yours whether you want to cook up something for yourselves in the well-equipped kitchen or enjoy a meal out in one of our local pubs or restaurants, all within 5 minutes’ walk. On Sunday, the gift shops will still be open but make sure you enjoy some crisp fresh air with a leisurely country walk along the riverside or a challenging hike across the fells, depending what you’re into! On your return, warm up in one of our cosy local hostelries for lunch and reflect on how much nicer this is than facing the Christmas crowds in town.
